This was a collaboration between Wits, American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR) and the Radiological Society of South Africa (RSSA) which also facilitated the electronic platform daily.
The visit had record attendance with eight Academic Radiology Departments from other South African universities attending. The programme included online lectures and case review engagement sessions with radiology registrars.
Dr Agarwal is currently Professor of Radiology at Mayo Clinic, Florida. He has been in academics for 18 years. Prior to Mayo Clinic, he was at University of Texas, where he served as the Program Director for Neuroradiology and Advanced Neuroradiology fellowships. He also served as the Associate Residency Program Director and started the first radiology residency program in the state of Nevada. He has over 100 publications, and numerous awards attesting to his expertise.
This was a great opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the Wits, RSNA, ASNR and the RSSA and will have long term benefits. These lectures have highlighted the importance of a multi-disciplinary approach to Neuroradiology specifically brain and head and neck tumours based on the updated WHO classification using molecular and genetic markers.
